Disappearing Land, Print on Canvas, 2022
The artwork is an imagination of a map of the Nile Delta, which scientists predict it would submerge due to the rising sea level.
The map takes the form of the ancient map “Forma Urbis Romea”, a map of Rome which was carved in marble and is recovered in relatively small pieces. The map is still missing fragments that keep manifesting though out time. The act of ongoing discovery interrupts the timeline between ancient and present. Disappearing land
is a boundless by time map that the artist keeps unfolding. It sheds light on the inevitable change in topography that will occur in the near future.
