MARIANNE FAHMY (b. 1992) is an Egyptian artist living and working in Alexandria, Egypt, whose works span film and installation. Her work delves into how memory and the anticipation of a possible future may fold into one another, bridging myth, prophecy, and political reality to offer a speculative vision of a new city. Her approach to the narratives are born from marginalized stories that are not part of the official history and that reflect current political and social circumstances. Marianne’s work is deeply connected to a delicate balance between fiction and reality, her mixed media works seamlessly blend archival materials with her own fabricated imagery.
